Tattoo Aftercare

It is essential to follow the advice your tattoo artist gives you to take care of your new tattoo; it is not advisable to ignore them if you want to have a tattoo that lasts and makes you feel that your investment was worth it.
When you leave the studio, you take responsibility for your tattoo. The time you put in taking care of your tattoo during the healing process will be significantly valuable once your tattoo is completely healed. It is not possible to speed up the healing process and it is different for everyone. Following the aftercare instructions provided by your artist will ensure that your beautiful art remains intact for years to come.
AFTER GETTING A TATTOO > Remove the bandage placed by the tattoo artist after 2-3 days.
KEEP YOUR TATTOO CLEAN > Wash the tattoo with cold water and neutral soap/gel using your hand (not a sponge) and pat (not drag) it dry with a clean towel or paper towels.
APPLY MOISTURIZING CREAM. > Apply a thin, transparent layer of cream. The cream should be applied in very thin layers 2-3 times a day for 2 weeks. Most artists can give you a recommendation of the type of moisturizer to use.
DO NOT COVER YOUR TATTOO > DO NOT cover the tattoo again with any type of dressing or bandages.
SWIMMING POOLS, BEACHES, BATHTUBS… > For two weeks or until the tattoo is completely healed, avoid getting the tattoo wet for long periods of time. By this we mean do not submerge in swimming pools, beaches or lakes, bathtubs, hot tubs and or spas. Wash the tattoo a maximum of 2 times a day.
SUN AND HEAT > DO NOT expose the tattooed area to the sun or heat sources. DO Not enter a tanning bed and limit sun exposure. If you must be out in the exposed sun it is recommended to cover it with a piece of clothing to avoid sun exposure to your tattoo.
TAKE CARE OF YOUR TATTOO > DO NOT rub, pick at or scratch the tattoo. Scabbing over is part of the normal healing process, do not pick at or try to remove the scab.
SWEAT AND EXERCISE > Avoid excessive sweating caused by exercise for two weeks or until the tattoo is healed.
